More than 120 students and hundreds of families gathered at Sand Hollow State Park for a full day of outdoor learning |
The Every Kid Outdoors initiative recently brought together over 120 students and hundreds of families at Sand Hollow State Park for a day filled with outdoor learning and adventure. This event aimed to foster a lifelong passion for nature among Utah's youth.
Participants engaged in a variety of activities, including kayaking, fishing, and educational sessions led by park rangers. The event was part of Utah's broader effort to encourage children aged 3 to 18 to connect with the outdoors through the Every Kid Outdoors Adventure Challenge. This program offers 14 challenges designed to inspire a love for nature and includes an Adventure Challenge Passport to track their journey.
Located near St. George, Utah, Sand Hollow State Park is renowned for its warm, blue waters and red sandstone landscape. The park offers a range of recreational opportunities, from boating and fishing to off-highway vehicle riding on the dunes of Sand Mountain. Its proximity to St. George, a city known for its vibrant community and growing real estate market, makes it a popular destination for both residents and visitors.
The success of this event underscores the importance of providing accessible outdoor experiences for children and families. By participating in such initiatives, the community not only promotes physical activity but also instills a sense of stewardship for Utah's natural resources.
As the Every Kid Outdoors program continues to expand, more families are expected to take advantage of these opportunities to explore and appreciate the state's diverse landscapes. |
