The Washington County Library System launched its annual Summer Reading Challenge, encouraging residents of all ages to dive into books and earn rewards.

This year's theme celebrates adventure and exploration, with reading logs, prizes, and special events throughout June, July, and August.

Reading Goals and Prizes

Participants track their reading progress and earn entries into prize drawings for gift cards, books, and local business vouchers.

The library offers separate challenges for kids, teens, and adults, making it a family-friendly activity that promotes literacy at every stage.

Community Impact

Summer reading programs combat the "summer slide," keeping kids engaged with books during vacation months when learning can stall.

For adults, the challenge offers a fun excuse to rediscover reading, explore new genres, and connect with fellow book lovers at library events.

Registration is free and open to all Washington County residents through the library's website or at any branch location.
