Public art brings us together': Art Around the Corner transforms downtown St. George with new sculptures |
Featuring public art and bronze sculpture installations |
The Art Around the Corner Foundation has unveiled its 2026 Outdoor Sculpture Gallery, introducing a vibrant array of public art installations to downtown St. George.
Strategically placed throughout the city's central district, this year's exhibition features sculptures in Town Square Park and on the grounds of the St. George City Building, enhancing the area's appeal as a walkable destination for art enthusiasts.
The annual program transforms downtown into an open-air gallery, showcasing works crafted from materials such as bronze, steel, glass, and stone.
Among the standout pieces in the 2026 collection is "The Future's So Bright...I Gotta Wear Shades," a compelling bronze sculpture by Bobbie Carlyle.
Other notable works include "Water Watcher," a large stainless-steel sculpture by Mark Stevenson inspired by water and desert landscapes, and "Celestial Gates," a glass creation by Tyler Kimball designed to interact dynamically with changing light throughout the day.
Stevenson shared insights into his piece, stating, "Water Watcher comes from many inspirations, including the petroglyphs left by earlier inhabitants of Utah."
He emphasized that the sculpture serves as a reminder—especially in the deserts of Southern Utah—that maintaining waterways is essential.
Established in 2004, the Art Around the Corner Foundation curates a rotating outdoor sculpture exhibition that refreshes each spring.
Approximately two dozen sculptures are installed annually throughout downtown St. George, remaining on display for the year.
All sculptures in the exhibit are available for purchase or lease, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit's mission of expanding access to public art in Southern Utah.
