Annual 'Campus to Community' Initiative Strengthens Bonds Between Students and St. George Community |
Utah Tech University students are extending a helping hand to St. George residents through their annual 'Campus to Community' service project.
On March 1, students will provide complimentary outdoor services such as gardening, yard work, painting, and window washing to homes and locations within a three-mile radius of the university campus.
Community members interested in these free services are encouraged to submit their requests by February 22.
Prior to the service day, members of the Utah Tech Student Association's Service Branch will conduct site visits to assess the feasibility of each request.
Participants will be notified if their projects can be accommodated.
Baylie Booth, vice president of service with the Utah Tech Student Association, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, "As a student who participated in Campus to Community last year, it was so meaningful to me to meet local community members and to serve them."
She added, "It is a great way to give back to the community. I hope to create this same experience for other students this spring."
Students will be organized into groups to ensure that various service needs across the community are met.
This project embodies the Service Branch's motto, "Blazers Give Back," serving as a token of appreciation to the St. George community for their unwavering support of Trailblazer Nation.
Anilee Adams, assistant director of student involvement and leadership at Utah Tech, highlighted the dual benefits of the event: "Campus to Community offers a fun and meaningful way for students to serve others while building connections with peers and local community members."
She noted, "It is one of my favorite events of the year."
Residents interested in participating can submit their service requests through the university's official channels.
