St. George’s new City Hall, opening January 17, is home to a stunning 12-foot-by-24-foot mosaic mural made from about 1,000 tiles, each painted by a local resident.
Artist Lewis Lavoie and his team at Mural Mosaic assembled these vibrant pieces into a dynamic scene of hikers and bikers enjoying Snow Canyon.
Operations Director Marc Mortensen notes that each tile contains a unique story from a member of the community, making the mural deeply personal and meaningful.
Residents, including Mortensen’s family, searched for their individual tiles, finding joy in seeing their contributions woven into the larger artwork.
The building itself also features figurines above department signs, celebrating diverse community members—from pioneers to outdoor lovers.
City Hall’s bright open-air atrium, large windows overlooking Town Square, and spacious City Council chambers reflect Mayor Michele Randall’s vision for a welcoming, vibrant center.
