‘A healing place’: Siva Pasefika celebrates 20 years of sharing Polynesian culture in St. George

Siva Pasefika has gone from a dream to a reality in St. George

In the heart of St. George, Utah, Siva Pasefika has been a beacon of Polynesian culture for two decades.

Founded in 2006 by April Keil, this dance troupe has grown from a modest group of enthusiasts into a celebrated institution, sharing the rich traditions of the Pacific Islands with the local community.

As they mark their 20th anniversary, the group reflects on a journey filled with passion, resilience, and cultural pride.

Over the years, Siva Pasefika has become synonymous with vibrant performances that transport audiences to the islands of Hawai'i, Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, Fiji, and Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Their dedication to authenticity and excellence has not only entertained but also educated many about Polynesian heritage.

In recent years, the troupe has expanded its reach by participating in various community events, Siva Pasefika has performed at the Huntsman World Senior Games opening ceremony and the annual Hulapalooza event held at Thunder Junction All Abilities Park.

Additionally, Siva Pasefika has been a highlight at the Luau at Fish Rock Grille, an event that brings together the community to celebrate Polynesian culture through food and performance.

These engagements underscore the group's commitment to fostering cultural appreciation and unity within St. George.

Beyond performances, Siva Pasefika offers classes at their studio located at 1025 East Tabernacle Street, St. George 435-668-7124.

These sessions provide an opportunity for individuals to learn Polynesian dance and immerse themselves in the culture.

As they celebrate this milestone, Siva Pasefika remains dedicated to their mission of sharing the spirit of Polynesia.

Through dance, music, and community engagement, they continue to be a vital part of St. George's cultural landscape, inspiring future generations to embrace and honor the rich traditions of the Pacific Islands.
