City Council Approves Major Developments Along St. George Boulevard

New projects set to transform downtown St. George

The St. George City Council has recently approved several significant developments along St. George Boulevard, signaling a transformative period for the city's downtown area.

One of the most notable projects is a 199-unit apartment complex at Tech Ridge. This development, situated between Donlee Drive and Tech Ridge Drive, will encompass 4.9 acres and include nearly 400 parking spaces. The council approved this project by a 4-1 vote during its August 21 meeting, aligning with the city's goal to provide housing within the developing tech park. Officials believe this will attract professionals to live and work in the same vicinity.

In addition to residential developments, the council has greenlit infrastructure improvements. On August 3, 2025, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) commenced a roadway improvement project on St. George Boulevard between Bluff Street and River Road. This initiative includes upgrades to electrical systems, pedestrian ramps, and the replacement of the top layer of asphalt. The project is expected to be substantially completed by November 2025, enhancing the boulevard's safety and functionality.

Further bolstering the city's growth, the council approved an amendment to the Bloomington Courtyard Planned Development Commercial (PD-C) use list on September 4, 2025. This amendment aims to diversify the types of businesses that can operate in the area, fostering economic development and providing residents with more amenities.

These developments reflect a concerted effort by the city to modernize infrastructure and accommodate a growing population. Residents and business owners alike are optimistic about the positive impact these projects will have on the community.

As construction progresses, the city encourages residents to stay informed about potential traffic changes and to participate in public forums to voice their opinions on ongoing and future projects.
