Washington City Museum Celebrates 25 Years with Grand Reopening

Historical museum debuts new Native American exhibit after three-month renovation

The Washington City Historical Museum marked a major milestone this week with a celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The museum reopened after a three-month closure with a brand new exhibit highlighting Native American history and culture. Founded by George and Kathy Staheli in 2001, the museum has become a cornerstone of local heritage preservation.

The reopening ceremony Thursday afternoon drew community members eager to see the updated displays.

New Leadership and Fresh Exhibits

Carmen Iverson Snow now serves as director and president of the museum, bringing fresh vision to the historic institution.

The new Native American exhibit showcases artifacts, artwork, and stories from the region's indigenous peoples. Museum officials say the exhibit provides important context about the area's earliest inhabitants and their lasting influence.

The renovation also included updates to existing displays and improved accessibility throughout the facility.

Located at 25 E. Telegraph Street, the museum offers free admission to the public.

Preserving Local History

For a quarter century, the museum has served as a gathering place for those interested in Washington City and Southern Utah history.

The collection includes pioneer artifacts, photographs, and documents that tell the story of the region's settlement and growth. Educational programs and community events make history accessible to all ages.

The 25-year milestone reflects the community's commitment to preserving and sharing its heritage.

Museum officials invite residents to visit the new exhibit and celebrate this important anniversary.
