Southern Utah Art Guild showcases 155 works in ‘Close to Home’ exhibit

Artists are turning canvases into conversation and letting colors do the talking

The Southern Utah Art Guild is currently presenting the 'Close to Home' exhibit at the Red Cliff Gallery in St. George, Utah.

This exhibition, running from February 13 through March 26, features 155 artworks that explore themes of community and place.

Cheryl Sache, the featured artist, brings vibrant colors and expressive energy to her pieces, inviting viewers to engage both emotionally and visually.

Adding a unique collaborative element, members of Red Rock Writers, the St. George chapter of the Utah State Poets Society, have composed poems inspired by select paintings in the show.

This fusion of visual art and poetry offers a multifaceted experience for attendees.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, with all artworks available for purchase.

Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m., at Red Cliff Gallery, located at 220 N 200 E in St. George.

In addition to the art exhibit, St. George is hosting several notable events this season.

The St. George Area Parade of Homes, running from February 13 to 22, showcases 32 homes throughout Washington County, highlighting innovation and craftsmanship in home design.

Visitors can explore these homes daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the official Parade of Homes website.

Additionally, the city is celebrating the grand opening of its new City Hall at 61 South Main Street on January 17, 2026.

This event coincides with St. George's 164th Heritage Day, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., followed by traditional root beer floats served from noon to 2 p.m.

Residents can also enjoy free rides on the St. George Carousel, Thunder Junction train, and SunTran bus, as well as free admission to the St. George Recreation Center, Sand Hollow Aquatic Center, and St. George Museum of Art throughout the day.

These events reflect St. George's vibrant community spirit and commitment to celebrating local art and heritage.

Whether you're an art enthusiast or a community member, there's something for everyone to enjoy in St. George this season.
