Southern Utah residents invited to help fight hunger during statewide food drive

Neighborhood food collections will take place throughout the region

Southern Utah residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming statewide food drive, Feed Utah, scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026.

This annual event aims to combat hunger across the state by collecting non-perishable food items from local communities.

In the week leading up to the event, residents will receive door hangers with information about the food drive.

Participants are asked to place their donations outside their doors by 9 AM on March 14.

Volunteers will collect these contributions and deliver them to designated drop-off sites, including the Utah Food Bank Southern Distribution Center located at 4416 River Rd, St. George, UT 84790.

For those who prefer to donate in person, the Southern Distribution Center will accept food donations on March 14.

Additionally, monetary contributions can be made online, with donations potentially being matched up to a total of $50,000 during the days leading up to and including the event.

Recent efforts to address food insecurity in the region have been significant.

On March 5, 2026, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated 20,000 pounds of food to the Switchpoint Pantry in St. George, providing approximately 15,000 meals to those in need.

Such contributions underscore the community's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.

Hunger remains a pressing issue in Southern Utah, with approximately 38,000 individuals facing food insecurity, including 1 in 5 children.

Participating in the Feed Utah food drive offers residents a tangible way to make a difference in their community.

For more information on how to get involved, including organizing neighborhood food collections or making monetary donations, residents can contact the Utah Food Bank Southern Distribution Center at 435.656.9122.

Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in the fight against hunger in our state.
