Every spring, something special happens at Vernon Worthen Park. Canopies go up, the smell of street food drifts through the warm desert air, and hundreds of St. George residents rediscover what makes their community worth celebrating. That something is MOD the Modern Market — and on April 11th, it's back for its eighth event.

 

What started four years ago as a simple idea — give small businesses a stage and let the community do the rest — has grown into one of Southern Utah's most anticipated outdoor events. MOD brings together a carefully curated mix of local artisans, independent boutiques, food trucks, and specialty vendors, all under the shared belief that shopping small is worth doing and worth doing well.

 

"It was created to help small businesses grow," owner Rachell Torgerson says of the market's founding mission. And by all accounts, it's working. Vendors who launched at MOD have gone on to build loyal followings across the region, with the market serving as a launchpad for brands that might never have found their footing otherwise.

 

This April's event runs from 10 AM to 4 PM at Vernon Worthen Park in the heart of St. George. Admission is free, parking is easy, and the atmosphere — as anyone who's attended before will tell you — is something you can't quite replicate indoors. There's a rhythm to a good outdoor market, a sense of discovery around every booth, and MOD has mastered it.

 

For the vendors, it's a chance to connect directly with the customers who will champion their work for years to come. For the community, it's a reminder that St. George is home to a remarkable depth of creative and entrepreneurial talent — talent that deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

 

Spring in Southern Utah doesn't get much better than a Saturday morning with good food, great finds, and the red rocks as your backdrop.
