New initiative connects 200+ students with Washington County employers for hands-on experience |
Utah Tech University announced a major expansion of its internship program, partnering with over 50 local businesses to provide hands-on learning experiences for students across multiple disciplines.
The "Trailblazers Career Connect" initiative launches this fall, aiming to place more than 200 students in paid internships with St. George area employers. The program emphasizes practical skills development while strengthening ties between the university and regional business community.
Participating industries include:
"This partnership creates a win-win situation," explained Dr. Rebecca Johnson, Utah Tech's Career Services Director. "Students gain real-world experience while local employers access talented, motivated workers who may become future full-time hires."
Local businesses praised the initiative as addressing workforce development needs in Washington County's growing economy. Several companies have already committed to multi-year participation.
The program provides structured mentorship, academic credit opportunities, and networking events connecting students with industry professionals. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.
