Major traffic disruptions are coming to St. George as the Utah Department of Transportation launches two major construction projects this summer.
The widening of Interstate 15 from St. George Boulevard to Bluff Street will add a third lane in both directions, targeting traffic congestion as the city grows.
Along Bluff Street, roadwork will introduce raised medians and extra turn lanes between Main Street and St. George Boulevard, aiming to boost safety and streamline travel.
UDOT project director Brett Anderson emphasizes that while upgrades bring improvements, narrower lanes and construction zones may lead to slower travel and delays.
The Bluff Street project starts in May and could last 18 months. I-15 expansion may stretch into two years, with work beginning in August.
Local businesses are concerned about access during the work, but UDOT vows consistent communication and updates to keep the community informed. Read More... |
